What is your coaching style?
My coaching philosophy is to move towards the good instead of dwelling on pain, and my coaching style focuses on taking you from where you are to where you want to be. The center of attention is on the “how” rather than the “why.” Sessions are solution-focused and little time is spent ruminating over the past, which is what makes coaching different from therapy. Therapy moves the client from dysfunctional to functional, while coaching moves the client from functional to optimal.

How do I know if I need a life or relationship coach?
Well, ask yourself these questions:

  • Are you ready to create the life you really want?
  • Do you believe that successful relationships are the foundations of life?
  • Does it seem that your goals are always a few steps beyond your reach?
  • Do you believe your relationship is worth saving despite the bumps and bruises?

If you heard yourself say “YES” to one or more of these questions, then you’re ready for a coach!

Where does coaching typically take place?
Coaching sessions are traditionally done over the phone.  In fact, many coaches never actually meet their clients.  Clients often prefer to be coached over the phone for the following reasons:

  • People tend to be more honest and open due to sense of anonymity
  • Coaching can be done from anywhere in the world
  • No traveling cost or time is needed
  • Phone coaching is cost effective
  • Clients can remain in the comfort and privacy of their homes

What is the process of couple coaching?
During the initial session, you and your partner will explain what you would like to accomplish with coaching.  After setting clearly defined goal(s), we then focus on the issues that are in the way and tackle them one by one. Couple coaching is most effective when both partners participate; in cases where one partner is reluctant, one-on-one coaching is recommended.

What if I want relationship coaching but my partner refuses to attend?
Schedule an individual session! It only takes one person to initiate change, and exploring ways in which your behavior impacts your relationship can be a positive beginning.

What are the benefits of using a coach?

How long are sessions?  
One-on-one and Couple sessions are one hour in length.  Group sessions are approximately 1.5 hours.

How long is a typical coaching engagement?
It depends largely on what you want to work on and how frequently you want to meet. It takes time and awareness to undo long-held habits and beliefs. Research has shown that it takes at least 12 weeks for positive behaviors to become a lifestyle change. In general, 6 to 10 sessions is the average duration of coaching for most clients. Most couples need a minimum of 8 to 20 sessions to make a lasting difference.

What is the Complimentary Discovery Session for?
Use the Complimentary Discovery Session to get to know your coach. Every coach has a different approach to coaching, and this is a great way to find out if you two will make great partners. Be prepared to talk about your goals and long-term plans. There will also be time to work on your most important or time-sensitive issue.

What is your rescheduling or cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice.  Your appointment is very important to me and that time is reserved exclusively for you. Without a 24 hour notice of cancellation, you will be charged a no-show fee of $50 for the missed appointment.

Do you accept insurance?
Life coaches do not accept insurance.  However, some employers do subsidize coaching fees as part of their employee development program.  Please check if this option is available with your employer.

Simply contact me to set up a Complimentary Discovery Session. This first session will be approximately 30-45 minutes. If you are in the Austin, TX, area we can meet face-to-face for the first session if you prefer.  Follow-on sessions will be over the phone.
